Photo Story

I've been quiet. Too quiet. So quiet that I feel guilty. Guilty that I have not been sharing our adventures with friends and family. But even more guilty that I have not been keeping a family record to look back on 10-15-20 years from now. There are excuses (of course there are!!). For one, finding the time has proven to be difficult. But more importantly, finding the energy to put the words together is even harder. Being the mom of two very active little boys is absolutely amazing and absolutely exhausting. And because our almost 8 month old has decided to enter the world of sleep regression, the words are still not here.

So I'm going to let the photos tell the story.

I last left off with Andrew's first meal back in August.  Since then, there have been many more messy moments as he worked through the fruits and vegetable list.  There has also been baseball and clapping and weddings and sitting and pumpkins and crawling and trick or treating and teeth! It certainly has been an exciting Fall and we are looking forward to a fun and busy holiday season.

I'm going to try really, really hard to keep up with things from now on. And Andrew is going to try really, really hard to go to sleep and stay asleep so that my Mommy brain can put the words together to be able to keep up with things. Happy Tuesday!

Two Weeks Notice

It's official.  I've given my notice.  Not to TIA...but to James.  How is it possible that in 2 weeks, I have to drop my sweet baby boy off at daycare and head back to the daily grind?!?!  I'm having a harder time accepting it than I thought I would, so I am making every day count in these last 2 weeks of my maternity leave. We started by making funny faces in the camera today before our bath.

Okay...so maybe I was the one making the funny faces.  :)  But seriously...

We had a great weekend, but the fun really started on Thursday afternoon when we met good friend Andrea for lunch at Cheesetique in Shirlington (p.s. YUM!!).  Andrea is one of those friends that just makes you smile all the time and she did not disappoint when meeting James.  It was a gorgeous day so we dined outside and then took in the sights of the newly enhanced village.  James was also treated to a new book from the One, Two Kangaroo Toys! store called Belly Button Book.  It has already become a favorite at bedtime!!!  Thank you Aunt Andrea!!!

The weekend came and so did Grandma and Grandpa Q.  Daddy was busy with a home improvement project during a good portion of the day on Saturday (details to come soon!), so James and I met up with Grandma for lunch and some shopping.  Grandma treated us not only to lunch, but to some cute stuff from Carter's.  It's hard to believe that there were actually clothes from that store that we don't own yet, but there were!!  Daddy met up with us later on in the day for a BBQ dinner and we ended the wonderful day with an early bed time followed by 7 hours of sleepy bliss! :)

And finally, today we decided to take advantage of the amazing weather and hit the trails of Burke Lake Park.  The place was packed, but we managed to find a bench to enjoy a picnic lunch before taking a stroll on the trail along the lake.  Lucy made lots of friends and James slept through the entire outing!

So here it is, Sunday night. The baby is sleeping.  Ed is figuring out stuff for his Fall school semester.  Lucy is resting on her chair. And I am thinking about all the things I will do with James in these next 14 days. Seven of those days will be spent in Bethany Beach with the family which will be really great.  The rest of the time poor James will have to deal with Mommy kissing on him constantly. Because he is probably going to get 110 kisses and 55 hugs per hour per day until I drop him off on the morning of June 18th.  I just love that face!!!

Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer

7.6.10

It is summer and boy, we've been havin' a blast! Okay...so I'm in a corny mood tonight. But I have LOTS to smile about. Here - click here and press "Play" to get in the mood. :)

So what's been going on you ask? Well, let me tell you. I've officially been on the job for almost 3 weeks and I am loving it. It is such a great new challenge - exactly what I was looking for. The home office is working out well (Lucy LOVES it) as are the trips to New York City. I'll be back up there July 19th - NY buddies mark your calendars!

We have been keeping busy on weekends - trying to get a lay of the land. The three of us hit Burke Lake Park and conquered the 4.7 mile lake path on a fairly warm Saturday afternoon. Lucy was especially interested in making friends with the ducks. :)

Next it was time to celebrate Ed's birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ED - so we headed into DC for a peek at the new and improved American History Museum. We were very impressed with the great exhibits. Ed's favs was anything car related. Mine of course was Julia Child's Kitchen. I wanted to hop over the stanchion and whip up a nice beef bourgonion!

Yup - that is Ed on the other side of the kitchen!!! :)

Next up - 80's night with The Legwarmers!!!! For those of you who are not familiar, The Legwarmers are the BEST 80's cover band in the DC area. We had a great time enjoying all our favorites AND we were in the company of Andrea and Rich which made it all the better.

And finally - Let's Play Ball!! It was family day down at Nationals Park this past weekend. We headed downtown to see the Nats beat up on the Mets (sad) and got a festive baseball hat out of it. The game would have been more enjoyable if we were not sitting in the sweltering heat, but it just made the beers taste that much better!

So far, this has been a great summer. There is some awesome news on the horizon but because I'm too superstitious I can't get into it now. Stay tuned!!!!!!!

P.S. No Ma, I'm not pregnant :)
