Birthday Week Day 1: One Last Milestone

In honor of birthday week, we are going to do a post a day to celebrate our little man.  Enjoy!

James turns one on Friday.  He is a year old in 4 days.  How is that possible?  I still remember the big belly and swollen ankles like it was yesterday!  But before we get to be parents of a one year old, we wanted to squeeze one more milestone in for the baby book and the blog. :)  And it was a really good one because it involved footwear.

After a very successful photo shoot with Erica at Elevee Photography (photos to come soon!), we headed to Fair Oaks Mall to hit up Stride Rite to get the little man his first pair of shoes.  He started walking on his own at the beginning of the month and has been getting better and better as each day passes so it was time to get him some big boy shoes.

There was a bit of a rush when the store opened, but after a quick look at the options, we strategically placed ourselves near the register to get some attention from the lovely clerk.  Within seconds, she was helping us out and measuring James' little feet.  Our little monkey man has some chubby, 4.5 wide tootsies!!

James was a fan of the shoes that Daddy picked and loved trying them out at the store. The best part was when he sneezed right in the face of the lovely young lady who was seeing if the shoes fit correctly.  I guess when you work at Stride Rite, it is all part of the job! :)

Here is one happy customer ~ and some good looking shoes!  Next milestone = turning 1!

Get Low, Get Low, Get Low

We hit another major milestone over the weekend ~ they seem to keep on coming these days!  Since our little man is now rolling all over the place and actually getting on his knees (time to start baby proofing!), we decided it was time to lower the mattress level in his crib.

Okay...I realize it is impossible to see the difference from those photos, but I swear, we lowered the mattress.  Maybe this helps:

Well...I tried.  James is a fan of his new set-up but Mommy is having a hard time reaching him for his goodnight kiss.  Soon enough he is going to learn how to sit on his own, then crawl, then stand and before we know it, he'll be running around. They grow up so fast!!

Milestones

Guess who rolled over for the first time last night?!  That's right, our little guy has reached this important milestone and right on schedule.  Such a scholar.  :)

We were getting him ready to take a bath and Ed had him doing some very important tummy time when all of a sudden, he rolled over onto his back.  Well, the real story is that he did it while I was upstairs getting his bath stuff so Daddy kind of forced him into doing it again so Mommy could see it.  So really, he did it twice in a 10 minute period!!  It was such an exciting moment - I cheered and cried at the same time!

Unfortunately, I don't have any footage of him performing this feat, but I do have some footage of some practice tries.

It is so hard to believe that our little man is almost 3 months and performing these new acts of bravery.  Way to go James!!
